Name: r(eili von wildcat)
Age: I'm over 18.

Character: Ben Hargreeves
Canon: The Umbrella Academy (Netflix)
Canon Point: Partway through Öga for Öga (S2, E7). Basically when Luther, Five, Klaus, and Ben are all in the alleyway and about to go home.
Character age: 33, including dead years. 16 if not.
Why do you think they can settle in a horror setting if they’re under 18?: His superhero name is The Horror because of his powers. Also he's sort of over 30? Don't worry about it.

Canon Abilities/Powers:
  • Eldritch Horrorterrors: Ben can summon tentacles from a portal in his stomach. Not monsters, mind you, just tentacles that are incredibly huge and have a shown range of like. A good 50-70 feet. He has a certain amount of control over them, but they also seem to have a mind of their own.

  • Ghost Stuff: Ben is kind of a strange ghost because he has the ability to interact with objects, which may or may not be a consequence of Klaus' powers. He's also recently gained the power to possess people, but it costs him a lot to do so and he can't do it for long in an unwilling host.
What is their greatest negative emotion towards an object, situation, or person in their past?:
Fear of dying for real. It's what kept him with Klaus for 17 years, even though he let Klaus think that it was him fault Ben stayed. Even though he looks the same age as the rest of his siblings (minus Five), Ben is still mentally 16 in a lot of ways so he has a somewhat childish fear of death compounded by the fact that he's, well, actually dead.

How strongly do they feel about the negative subject matter, on the scale of one to ten?:
At his canonpoint? About a 9 or 10. He'll very shortly make the choice to sort of sacrifice himself for Vanya's sake, so he's make a kind of uneasy peace with the idea that he'll have to go soon but it's still weighing pretty heavily on his mind. He feels strongly about it, but those feelings aren't necessarily all negative anymore, is what I'm trying to say.

What is their greatest virtue?:
Kindness. Even though he's gotten more sarcastic as he's gotten older, Ben still possesses the same unfathomable kindness that made him the moral center of the Umbrella Academy before he died. His family fell apart without him there to be kind to them all when nobody else, especially their father, would.

How aware are they of their virtue, on a scale from one to ten?:
Four or five, probably. Ben's aware enough that he's probably the nicest sibling, but he wouldn't consider it a virtue. He'd probably consider it a weakness given his upbringing, honestly.

Items: Ben's a ghost. He's lucky to be wearing clothes.

Samples:
You can see me? from the TDM

Don't tell me: there's another apocalypse. also from the TDM.

Special notes
Ben will, in fact, be retaining his ghost form! He'll also be appearing almost solid, in accordance with his show appearance. Just not blue and sparkly the way he is when Klaus manifests him.
